You’ve read and learned about organic pet foods and you have decided to try one. Where do you buy it?
Organic pet food is a specialty product and can be difficult to find. While most grocery and big-box stores carry common brands of pet food, they are unlikely to stock organic pet foods.
The big pet supply stores PetSmart and Petco have a limited selection of organic pet food. PetSmart sells 1 brand of organic cat food online only and 2 brands of dog food both online and selectively in store. Petco sells 1 brand of organic cat and dog food each online and in stores selectively. I would call and make sure that your local store carries organic food before making a trip to the store.
Smaller, specialty stores are more likely to carry organic pet food. Examples are locally owned pet stores, farm supply stores (these often carry domestic pet foods,) and organic/natural stores.
If you plan to purchase organic pet food it will be easier to research the brands first and decide which brand you want to try. Then you can go to that brand’s website and find a store that carries the brand. This will save you a lot of time.
The easiest option for buying organic pet food is to buy online. Buying online saves you the time and gas driving to different stores trying to find the product you want. There are usually more deals online, which is especially important because organic pet food is more expensive.
Here are some online retailers where you can buy organic food online:
Amazon (they have almost everything!)
Product websites will sell their product directly or help you find a retailer that sells their brand.
