Are you surprised? You should be! Plenty of the names on this list are some of the most well known and branded names out there, so how can they be branded as some of the worst dog food brands out there?
DogFoodScoop goes on to say the following about the dog food brands listed on their worst food list.
These dog foods contain the worst dog food ingredients you will find! They are comprised mainly of by-products; carcinogenic flavors and preservatives; cheap, unhealthy fillers, and … Heaven only knows what else!
In addition, we have no respect for the philosophy of these pet food companies. In our opinion, they are clearly dedicated to their bottom line with a total disregard for the health and well-being of our beloved furry companions.
They are truly a far cry from the best dog foods available!
It is highly unlikely that any of these awful supermarket brands on our list of Bad Dog Foods will be carried or recommended by any respectable, independent dog food store.
Digging further into their site, you will come across a page called the Dark Side of Dog Food Manufacturers, which goes into some great detail on how we, the customers are being decieved by the outright lies of these dog food brands and what is really in their food.
Many commercial dog foods are comprised mainly of cheap, harmful fillers, which are tough on our dog’s digestive system, (such as, cereal by-products, cottonseed hulls, crushed peanut shells, straw, crushed corncobs, weeds, and feathers).
Many dog food brands also contain toxic preservatives, poisonous dyes, and other carcinogenic agents which are banned from human foods.
It takes a lot of guts and effort to take a stand and say what the worst dog foods are, and what is really in the food that is being fed to your beloved pets. Be sure to take some time and look through DogFoodScoop’s reports and make sure you aren’t feeding your dog anything that is on the worst dog food list!
Howdy! As a pet nutrition consultant who has worked with pets in various areas from the veterinary field to the dog show world, I am disappointed to see that your site perpetuates many of the myths and misconceptions too readily available and repeated online. Much of the information listed when reviewing pet foods is misunderstood or just completely false. No pet food should solely be judged based on the ingredient panel. To make recommendations based solely on that ignores nutrition, canine/feline physiology and anatomy, and the biochemistry of digestion among other aspects of pet health. It is reasons like this that someone in my position is needed when so much “information” is given from credentialed sources.
Like Beth, I am disappointed that this is just another very confusing site that contradicts itself on vritually every page. On one page there is good advice with actual nutritional and marketing facts and the next page has ads and recommendations that contradict what the consumer just read. Nutrition is about nutrients, INGREDIENTS. Slagging some products on the basis of ingredient panels is simply marketing not science. On one page of :wrost dog foods, a product is mentioned and on the next coupons are offered for that product. There is a great opportunity to supply the consumer with evidence based nutritional information from one end of the site to another, hope you would try!
