Even though canine allergies are not that common, it’s a very good idea to protect your pet against these problems. With that in mind, one of the best ways to keep your pet away from canine allergies is to understand when they appear.

Signs of canine allergies

Usually, there are 6 main signs that showcase potential canine allergies. It all starts with an itchy or a red skin. If your dog has runny eyes, then it can be very important to keep him away from any potential allergens.

Moreover, some of the other signs include things like sneezing, reverse sneezing and constant licking. If your dog is constantly licking or even chewing his eats, feet or even his face, then there might be some canine allergies at stake here. Heavy snoring, as well as digestive issues, diarrhea or vomiting can be a sign of canine allergies as well.

What causes canine allergies?

As you can imagine, there are multiple triggers that can lead to canine allergies. Most of the time, they include things like dust mites and dander, pollen, cigarette smoke, mold, flea bites, shampoo and food ingredients. While these might not seem like triggers for you, they are allergy triggers for your dog and you have to keep them as far as possible from your dog. It’s important to clean your dog’s bed as often as you can, the last thing you want is to have your dog deal with any type of allergy. So, cleaning his bed might be a very good way to handle this situation. If possible, try to bathe your dog with some hypoallergenic shampoo too, because that’s what matters the most at the end of the day.

If possible, try to ask your vet about any antiseptic skin wipes, ear cleaners or some antihistamines. They are very useful and they will bring in front some very good results, which is exactly what you want to focus on for sure.

In case your pet might have canine allergies from his food, switch to food that’s focused on bringing a hydrolyzed protein diet. Try to do that to the best of your capabilities if you want to get the very best results.

It’s important to talk with the vet about any canine allergies as he is the only one able to help you in this regard. Avoid rushing, take your time and in the end you will be able to get some good results!
