Just like humans can get colds and be sick, dogs can also get a cold. Many dogs may be sick when they are first born and live in a puppy mill, or placed into a pet store. These type of colds and sicknesses pass on from dog to dog, and is often known as “kennel cough”. The sounds and symptoms of kennel cough is usually a raspy cough like there is something stuck in the throat of the dog. A visit to the vet will quickly cure kennel cough.
Can dogs get sick from humans?
While they are many different sicknesses and ways for humans to get sick, there are only a few that will affect dogs. Fortunatly for dogs, they can’t get sick through human contact or receive a human related sickness.
How to tell if you dog is sick.
Besides from abnormal activity from your dog, or being sluggish and looking sick, you should also be looking out for colored discharge from the eyes or nose area. If you find that your dog is continually coughing or sneezing, there may something that is bothering them in their living conditions. Diaharee or throwing up is also a symptom of something wrong with your pets heath.
Should you come across any of these symptoms or just don’t feel like your pet is the same as usual, be sure to visit your vet for a second opinion, as they sickness may be a quick fix from prescribed antibiotics or other medication.
