We all know that humans can sweat, and it’s one of the most important ways for us to lose weight and stay healthy? But what about our four legged friends…. can dogs sweat?
Dogs do have the ability to sweat, but not in the same places and ways a human sweats. It may seem funny, but dogs actually sweat through their pads and their feet. There aren’t any sweat glands through out their skin, nor in their armpit areas.
How many times have you seen a dog after running around or going for a walk? When they are done they are usually sitting around and panting like crazy. The same way we sweat through our skin, is why a dog pants. The main way for a dog to release heat from their bodies is through their mouths.
Depending on your type of dog, it’s very important to keep them safe and healthy at all times from over heating and possibly having a stroke. If a dog has an unhealthy respiration system, it could lead to stroke, and more often this is found in dog breeds such as bulldogs and pugs.
