The cat cube is a huge hit in our house. Our kittens discovered the cube while we were visiting a family member’s home. They quickly took over control of the cube from the other cats living there!
The cat cube is essentially a pop up cube made of durable fabric, that has holes in the sides – I have typically seen cubes that have circular holes in 3 sides. They come in a variety of colors and you can choose a color that doesn’t clash with your décor. These cubes also range in price from about $4 and up depending where you buy your cat cube(s). I have seen these cubes at Walmart, Target, and at pet stores.
The cat cube is such a simple looking toy that you might wonder, “will my cat really be interested?” From my experience, the answer is a resounding YES! Cats love these cubes. My kittens use the cube as a tiny fortress that they are determined to overtake and protect, with multiple defense (and attack) points through the circular holes in the walls of the cube. The cube is also an excellent napping spot, bathing spot, or obstacle course for your cat!
The cube I purchased for about $4 is made of the same durable material as many reusable shopping bags – not the plastic-like bags, but the thick fabric bags. Our cube has survived three wild 6 month old kittens without any of the walls ripping. Our cube came with 2 red strips of material attached inside, to be used as a teaser toy, but the kittens ripped those out fast.
The cat cube was a big hit as a Christmas present among my cats. It has provided hours of fun!
